5 Essential Packing Tips to Simplify Your Travels
One of the most annoying and stressful aspects of travel is luggage. The consequences of losing your bags or having them go to the wrong location is much more stressful than any other part of your vacation. Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do your luggage that will make your travels less frustrating.
Take day bags
When you're packing, you might wrongly focus all your concentration on fitting all your clothes in one suitcase. Even though clothes are important, you shouldn't forget to pack some sort of day bag because there will be times when you need to take clothes or items on a hike. Packing something as simple as a backpack in your suitcase will leave you with more options once you're there.
Don't overpack on the way there
If your suitcase is already packed to the brim before you even embark on your trip, that's a major problem. Many people don't account for all the souvenirs or gifts they will pick up on their trip. That's why it's important to go there with some room in your suitcase because that'll give you space to put your new items. If not, you will find yourself having to ship things at an expensive rate or purchase another suitcase.
Make your suitcase visible/unique
Even though there are usually some slight differences in most luggage, one of the most popular colors is black. When your suitcase is black, it easily blends in with others and makes it extremely hard to identify when it's coming down the baggage chute. A way to expedite the process of picking out your bag is to put a piece of tape on the front and back or use a brightly colored tag.
Put your information inside and outside the suitcase
An annoying truth of traveling is that your luggage can get lost. Sometimes you put a bag down and forget it and sometimes the airline misplaces it, but either way, you should have your details clearly printed both inside and outside your luggage. This will make the recovery process much easier.
Make sure your bags fit the airline size requirements
The worst thing that could happen when arriving at the airport is realizing your bags are too large to be either carried on or checked. This means you'd have to leave things behind to make your luggage go under the weight limits. Prior to going to the airport make sure to check the luggage limits and weigh or measure your items.
