Mickey, Donald, Pluto and Goofy have been entertaining families and children at the world famous Disneyland resort in Florida for over 40 years now.
It's synonymous with Orlando, Florida, so much so that even just hearing the name of the place makes you think of the magical land that Walt Disney brought to life.
Other attractions near the Disney World locationHowever, there's so much more to the Sunshine State than that. So when you step of the airplane knowing that you've already sorted out the
car hire, Florida is your oyster, so to speak.
How about these ideas for some great alternatives outside of Disneyworld.
Seista KeyFor beach-lovers, you're in for a treat. Sarasota's Siesta Key has just been granted America's highest beach accolade as the Best Beach 2011.
Dedicated coastal scientist, Dr Stephen Leatherman, has been researching and awarding beaches for 21 years. The man - better known as Dr Beach - praised Siesta Key for some of the finest and whitest sand ever seen in the world.
The near-perfect quartz crystals seen on the beach stretch that spans hundreds of yards. It is a popular spot for volleyball players and those seeking an impeccable tan.
Seista Key is very child and family friendly with small coastal waves and facilities in abundance including: showers and bathrooms, snack bars, grills, picnic tables, shade trees, and a large parking area.
Don't forget the 'SpringsIf you're looking for something a little bit cooler or more secluded than the Florida beaches, then why not head off to some beautiful freshwater springs that are idea for picnics and romantic getaways.
Just 15 minutes outside of the capital Tallahassee, Wakulla Springs is one of the largest freshwater springs on earth covering some four acres of land.
Those daring enough can take a dive from a two-storey platform into the luscious waters with temperatures averaging at around 70-degrees.
Even more exciting is the prospect of being dragged at speed by a boat in a classic Florida pastime: tubing. You'll recognise the big donut rings that you sit on from TV no doubt, and the best place to have a go is at Ichetucknee Springs, Fort White.
There are three launch points along the 6-mile river and a tram is always ready to take you back to the start for another go!
