Do I need a Passport to fly over water?

We are going on a tour of Hawaii and flying there from Kansas. We have never flown overseas before so not sure if we need a passport or not, sorry thanks very much.

Don't worry about it, you would be surprised that this question is more common than you would think.

Even though travel restrictions have become stricter in recent years, you still do Not need a passport to fly to Hawaii.

Since it is a US state, it does not matter that you are flying over the Pacific. As long as you land in a US state, it's the same as traveling over the mainland United States. You're good to go, have fun!
