Entertainment at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, UK

If you are planning a trip to spend some sunny days next the Solent, a day trip to the Isle of White or even if you have already booked your Portsmouth hotel, there are some great attractions to enjoy while you are there. In fact, too many to go into detail here, including the Isle of White Festival, Portsmouth Guildhall, Fratton Park (if you like that sort of thing!) and the popular Historic Dockyard. There are 95 designer outlet stores at this complex which makes the number one activity here a little bit of retail therapy. What better way to treat yourself than with a lovely new scent, fashion item or the latest gadget? Ok, so in these cash strapped times, you do have to justify splashing out like this, but when lots of the clothing is at reduces prices you won’t find anywhere else, what better excuse is there? Highlights include Calvin Klein, Guess and Paul Smith. Of course, being so close to the sea there are plenty of surfer fashion stores to choose from, should you want a new pair of flip flops or a bikini for your summer stay, so see RipCurl, Vans, Yumi and FatFace.

Eating and Drinking

There are 30 bars and restaurants in the complex to choose from, all of which span the world’s cuisine, from South American tapas, to noodles and English dining, there’s something for everyone. Besides which there are special deals with many of the hotels near Gunwharf Quays, meaning that you can get a discount not available to people just passing by. If you’re there with friends or as a couple, there are some trendy bars such as Tiger Tiger where an evening sipping cocktails and looking over the sparkling Solent can be rounded off with a good old boogie.

As if shopping and eating wasn’t enough fun (maybe I just have simple tastes) you can also laugh your socks off at the comedy club, shed a little tear at the cinema to a weepy movie, take the kids bowling at the 26 lane bowling alley or enjoy a thrilling speed boat ride.
