Make The Most Of A Weekend Break In Brighton

Make The Most Of A Weekend Break In Brighton

In a seaside town such as Brighton, it’s only natural that many of the tourist attractions and things to do have connections to the beach. The large and popular coastline means that there won’t be a dull moment for anyone visiting Brighton, and you won’t be spending too much time twiddling your thumbs. Here are a few things you should consider doing if you’re heading to Brighton for a short break.

Walking Tours

Arguably the best way to get to see any town or city is via a walking tour. Brighton is no exception to this as there are a number of tours that show you round the variety of historic attractions that the city has to offer. Near enough all the Brighton hotels will have a schedule of some sort available, meaning you shouldn’t struggle to find the right tour to guide you through the landmarks on Brighton’s famous coastline. Picking the right tour depends on what you want to see, so it may be worth paying Brighton Tourist Information Centre a visit.

Bus Tours

For those wishing to take in the sights but not use up too much energy, then you could take a guided bus tour of Brighton. One of these hop on/hop off buses departs from Madeira Parade and allows you to get on and off at certain points as regularly as you like so you don’t have to miss out on any vital sightseeing. Many landmarks such as the Royal Pavilion, the Corn Exchange and of course the seafront are easily accessible and inte-connected by these various bus lines.

Scenic Flights

If you’re looking to do some sightseeing from a unique perspective, then scenic pleasure flights depart from Shoreham Airport at various times throughout the day. These are affordable to many and unsurprisingly, offer the best view of Brighton’s coastline, as well as many other must-see attractions. Weather permitting, these flights take place all year long and there are many packages available, with flights ranging from 25 minute flights to a couple of hours long. As you would expect, what takes place on these flights is totally dependent on the package you choose.

The shorter, cheaper packages will take you to Arundel, Newhaven, the Seven Sisters, Beachyhead, Littlehampton, the Brighton marina and so on. Longer tours will venture further and take you to places like Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. Tours need to be booked in advance and there is a maximum of three passengers per flight. If you really want to take in the scenery in style, then you are more than welcome to take along a bottle of champagne, and glasses will be provided free of charge.

Kemptown

Home to many bars, restaurants, antique shops and independently owned shops, Kemptown has a lot to offer people visiting Brighton. Guided boat tours, a large shopping area, a multi-screen cinema and a bowling alley are just a few of the things you will find here.

You will also find Brighton Marina situated in Kemptown – one of the UK’s largest yacht harbours. This plays host to a number of bars and cafes, with breath-taking views of the harbour and the water. Entry is free and the marina is open daily.

Finally on Kemptown, you will also find the Black Rock naturist beach, which is perfect for people wishing to get themselves a full-body suntan. This is the only beach of its kind in Brighton, and is popular amongst locals and visitors alike.

There are a number of other things to see and do in Brighton, including taking in the views at Beachyhead, and visiting The Lanes on East Street, and planning in advance will help enhance your trip to no end.
