New Resorts for Ski Sports

Years of previous pistes and slopes have allowed for these resorts to offer some of the best value for skiing. Some resorts are near to and even affiliated to others so the options to ski, snowboard, or even dog sled are available in abundance.

Russia

The iconic destination Sochi offers a resort that is the host of the 2014 winter Olympic Games. A comfortable location as the average high temperature is almost ten degrees Celsius.

This is one of the most modern ski resorts of the bunch. Over a billion pounds (forty five billion Russian rubles) has created brand new: ropeways, ski lifts, a ski stadium, loads of parking, plush modern hotels, a ‘cultural centre’, restaurants cafes, a trading area, and last but not least, a water park. This location is definitely benefitting from the Olympic organisation support. Sochi could just become one of the best ski resorts in the world!

Sochi the local area has also received a multi million pound facelift. This resort is a companion of the Black sea and the local town benefits from modern infrastructure, high speed amenities, and a more open cultural welcome than ever before.

Austria

Austria is by far one of the most generous of the bunch, in terms of hosting over four different new types of resorts. In this we’ll mention the first, Alpendorf is a resort that will always get it right, as it has the support of the Salzburger Sportwelt, which is a collection of alliances that make up over eight hundred slopes with over two hundred new ski lifts.

One of the benefits of skiing in Austria is the fresh water snow. Unique to this region of ski resorts, and unlike those in the United States and France, the Eastern Alps contain more than thirty thousand cubic meters of fresh water which is pumped through the snow cannons to make an abundance of ‘natural’ snow.

Other resorts that are included within this range of Austrian Alps offering ski and snowboarding opportunities include: Kirchberg, Gosau, and Silvretta Montafon.

Bulgaria

This resort has fought off others to be one the top resorts in Bulgaria. Bansko was modernised by a sizeable multi-million European investment that offers the longest ski season in Bulgaria from December to May and provides the most consistent amount of snow.

The hefty financial support incorporated luxury apartments and hotels and the addition of a Balkans fun park. The park is unique in that many snowboarders and visitors attend from all over the world to craft their own versions of ski jumps. The area hosts competitions to see which the best ski jump is, and who the best skier is.

Finland

Finland is in a league of its own as it is not renowned for high hilly slopes or dangerous mountains rather than earning the reputation as a place for fun in the snow. Ruka and Iso Syote are two of the most recent additions to the Finnish group of resorts.

With some of the most extreme daylight hours and the largest landscapes of snowy terrain these areas contribute to the offerings of the Northern lights, ice hotels, ice pools, Santa parades, snowmobiling, reindeer sleigh safaris, dog sledding, ice karting, and plenty more.

Winter Wonderlands

These ski resorts are part of the existing and established groups of resorts around the world.
