Question on Student Russia visa invitation

Russia Student Visa Question

Russia Student Visa Question

Maybe you can help me learn what the invitation is all about with Russia. I am wanting to get a Russia student visa but not sure what all is required.

The Russia embassy does not pick up their phone and I have been given conflicting information from different people. I know that there is some sort of invitation that I need to give the embassy when I apply. But where do I get one for a student visa and also is it true that it should be the original one not a copy? Thank you so much.

ANSWER:

Hello,

Yes you do in fact need an invitation issued to you before applying for a Russia student visa. An invitation is required even for tourists and business travelers.

Although copies of the invitation can be submitted for Russia tourist and business visas, the Russia consulate needs the original invitation for student visa application.

Once you have found the institution you want to study at, contact them to arrange for the invitation. They will be experienced and knowledgeable on the process so you don't have much to worry about.

Definitely do not try to complete the process on your own before talking with someone at the school you are planning to go to. That way you will know for sure that you have everything needed before applying at the Russia Consulate.
