Rush Passports | Right Way to Expedite Your US Passport
Understanding Rush PassportsAre you packed and ready for your upcoming trip? Wait, did you check on your passport while you have been planning and preparing for your vacation? It is actually a very common problem that many people run into right at the last second. Fortunately, rush passport processing is a great way to quickly get yours without having to cancel or reschedule your travel plans. Sometimes there are situations where someone’s passport has been stolen or lost and it is not noticed until getting ready for an international trip. Other times you will take a quick peek at your travel document and be completely shocked that it is either expired or about to expire. So what is the right way to expedite a passport? It all comes down to how soon you need it. Do you need it back in less than a month, less than a week, a couple of days or even the same day? When you need your travel document back the same day you turn in your application then schedule an appointment online at travel.state.gov. Hopefully, (fingers crossed) there will still be an available appointment waiting for you. If you are lucky enough to get an appointment, show up on time in the morning at the Passport Agency. Definitely do not be late since they will not cut you any slack. Once you apply, you will be able to come back in the afternoon that same day to pick up your travel document.

In the case that you need your passport within a few days, you can save time and hassle by hiring an expedite service. There will be an additional service fee besides the fee paid to the US Department of State but this way you do not have to spend time and money traveling to and from the Passport Agency. An expedite service will basically jump through all the hoops for you. All you have to do is gather the required paperwork and Fedex your package to the company you hired. They will take it from there by submitting your application package for you in person. The next business day, they will pick up your travel document and ship it back to you with overnight shipping. The good news is that if you are not leaving on your vacation for four weeks or more then you don’t really need to pay for rush passport service. You can submit your passport application through USPS and request expediting. It will only cost an additional $60 by going through the post office and it takes one to three weeks to receive your passport by express mail.
