The Green Door

Located in Schoneberg this bohemian cocktail bar has been open since 1996. Although it is casual with its gingham wallpaper and kitschy interior, rock icons like David Bowie and actor Dennis Hopper have called The Green Door their home away from home. Young and old alike love the atmosphere of this understated little bar. The cocktail list is incredibly long and features the simple signature drink that the bar is known for which is a mixture of lemon, mint, sugar, and of course champagne. The cocktails are priced lower than what you would expect from a bar on this side of town and is conveniently located just down the street from Nollendorfplatz metro station.

Dachkammer

The best cocktails can be found at the Dachkammer which is located on Simon-Dach-Strasse Road. Featuring a pub on the first floor and a cocktail bar on the second, Dachkammer is close to the Frankfurter Tor station, serves tasty food and is frequented by hip locals and tourists in the know. The brunch is delicious and you can scoff down a plate of chips and salsa for a mere 3.10 Euro’s. One of the most popular drinks at the Dachkammer is a vodka and red bull which you can wash down for 5.10 Euro’s.

Br 101

This quaint Brazilian cocktail bar could easily be ignored, as it is nothing special to look at, but it has one of the best happy hours in the area. All cocktails are 3 Euros, and the bar is just a short stroll from the Alexanderplatz on Torstrabe Street in Mitte. The local favourite is a mixture of Blue Curacao, orange and lemon juice and Amaretto. The menu is quite a few pages long and offers original and classic cocktails. The bar does not serve food, but sometimes offers nibbles like fried papaya and plantain.

Zyankali Bar

This is a really fun place to go if you want to try a concoction of 100 original cocktails and 20 different beers. The only oxygen bar in Kreuzberg it is close to the Landsberger Allee metro line and is moderately priced. Featuring beer and Absinthe bongs it has free WIFI and computer access which makes it extremely popular with students and backpackers.

Würgeengel

Touting itself as one of the most relaxed bars in Berlin it is fitted out with classic leather booths and wooden tables. The menu features fine wines, whiskies and excellent original and classic cocktails. Würgeengel serves a large plate of mixed tapas for 10.50 Euro. Get a plate for two and it will cost you 16 Euro. The cocktails are well priced with a signature martini running you 8 Euro. Close to the Landsberger Allee station in Kreuzberg the crowd is hip, young and professional.

Newton Bar

You will find this class cocktail bar in Mitte on Charlottenstrasse which is quite close to the U6 metro line. Named after Helmut Newton, this upscale cocktail bar is popular with diplomats, businessmen and upscale professional types. Deep red leather arm chairs are surrounded by sky high nudes from the late fashion photographer’s collection. Of course the signature cocktail is the Dirty Martini and a must have, especially in the upstairs cigar bar. You can expect to pay 8.50 Euro for martini’s and 6 Euro’s and up for a glass of champagne.
