The Most Unique Tourist Attractions in Mauritius

The Most Unique Tourist Attractions in Mauritius

There is in many aspects almost no need to talk about how an amazing destination Mauritius is for any type of vacation. The island of Mauritius, one of the flagships of the Indian Ocean, indeed hails as one of the finest destinations in the whole world. There are many reasons behind its popularity. Its beaches are of course among the most beautiful in the world and have been exhaustively praised across the globe, and the excellent weather there only makes the beach more enjoyable.

Moreover, there is no denying that the Mauritius tourist attractions are often mesmerizing and lovely sights to behold. In fact, the island is widely known for the number of such attractions it offers, which is quite surprising considering how small it is. Among these are some extremely unique ones, which I will cover in this article.

The Chateau de Labourdonnais

Usually, you would expect an attraction to focus on one type. It could be a history museum or it could be an art gallery. The Chateau de Labourdonnais does little to adhere to these presumptions, as it offers various types of attractions in a single spot. It is thus a museum (one of the biggest ones in the island), distillery, and a restaurant, among others.

The Chateau de Labourdonnais also has the distinction of being the finest orchard and botanical garden in Mauritius. With so many things to do at a single location (and a single entrance fee!), the Chateau de Labourdonnais should be one of the first things you check out in Mauritius.

The Ile aux Aigrettes

There many tiny islands around Mauritius, and the Ile aux Aigrettes is one of the most well-known of these rather small islands. This coral island, which is located just off the south eastern coast of Mauritius, is a nature conservation site where you can find some extremely rare birds such as the kestrel, which can only be found there.

As a nature conservation site, you can expect to marvel at some rare species of animals in the Ile aux Aigrettes. While there is not much to do other than admire and take pictures of these animals and plants, their rare nature makes the island extremely unique.

The Chamarel Park

The Chamarel Park is one of the most unique attractions in the world as it is the only place where you can find a clay earth of no less than seven colors. Due to this unique trait, it is not hard to figure out that the Chamarel Park is also an extremely popular sight that any tourist should absolutely check out.

That's not all though as the Chamarel Park is not just about its seven-colored earth. It is in fact also a waterfall, which many consider to be the finest in the whole of Mauritius. Add to this a huge park with an incredibly beautiful vegetation perfect for pictures, and the Chamarel Park indeed becomes one of the most unique tourist attractions in Mauritius.
