The Must-See Attractions of Seychelles Island

Although Seychelles is an extremely popular and internationally acclaimed travel destination, many people however do not do much about it. For example, although we usually simply refer to it as Seychelles, it is actually an archipelago of no less than 110 islands of varying sizes.

The three main islands are Mahe, where its capital, Victoria, is located, Praslin and La Digue, but these are only three of a truly incredible collection of extremely beautiful islands.

The most thrilling thing about the islands of Seychelles is that there are a number of extremely interesting things to see when you do there. The number of beaches in the island is obviously larger than most other destinations due to the multitude of islands actually forming part of Seychelles. However, there are also other must-see attractions such as parks that anybody traveling to the Seychelles should definitely check out. The list below will help you choose which tourist attractions you should never miss when visiting Seychelles.

The Vallée de Mai

Although the Seychelles islands are easily associated with their fabulous beaches, one of its most unique attractions is funnily enough a nature park. The Vallée de Mai nature park is located on Praslin Island and is the Seychelles' main nature park. It boasts a number of rare and unique wildlife including the Coco de Mer, a coconut that can be only found in Seychelles.

Curieuse Island

Curieuse Island is an extremely small island located off the northern coast of Praslin island. It is most notable for its vivid red soil from which numerous Coco de Mer trees crop up. This combination gives Curieuse Island (Curieuse is French for Curious) a truly mesmerizing look and it ranks among the most visited smaller islands in the Seychelles archipelago.

Anse Lazio

A lot has been written about Anse Lazio and still is, which means you must probably have heard it mentioned before. You may have heard how it is probably the best beach in the world and how its crystal blue lagoon is one of the most incredible sights in the world. Everything you have heard about the beauty of Anse Lazio is true. The only problem is that it is currently forbidden to bath in it due to sharks, but a trip to the beach is still something you must never cross off your list.

Beau Vallon

Beau Vallon is often considered as the second best beach in the Seychelles islands. Beau Vallon is found on the north western coast of Mahé Island and is ultimately the most popular beach in Mahé. It is also a fantastic diving spot and is a very respect spot within the diving community. Since you will very likely go through Mahé regardless of where you are staying in Seychelles, the Beau Vallon beach should be one of your first destinations.

The Aldabra Giant Tortoise

Our fifth and last attraction is neither a beach nor an island but is instead one of the several unique species of animals founds through the Seychelles islands. The Aldabra Giant Tortoise, which is found in La Digue island, is famed for its sheer size with a weight of no less than 225 kilos and a length easily exceeding 100 centimeters. The sight of these tortoises very leisurely strolling around, minding their own business, and constantly eating will be one you never forget.

The author writes on behalf of the Emerald Cove hotel, a Seychelles private island hotel found in Praslin and which comes with its own private beach.
