Vietnam – A Great Destination
Vietnam is a country of true beauty in many forms. It has a determination and lifestyle of a country that has overcome so many hardships throughout time which in turn also makes it a real treat to visit.
One of the most spectacular sights to see in all of Vietnam is Ha Long Bay! The bay is located in the North-East region of Vietnam in the Gulf of Tonkin. Most tourists that come to Vietnam love to be swept away in the natural beauty and magical landscape of the bay. Throughout the bay are 1,969 limestone islands (989 of them have been given names) which are typically hollow and full of hidden caves that you can discover and explore for a great adventure. Some of the islands are even used by local fishermen to support floating villages. A popular choice is to take a guided boat tour into Ha Long Bay and view it via the water itself. No matter how you view Ha Long Bay it is truly breathtaking and a sight that that everyone who visits Vietnam should see!
If you are looking for a popular and well known cave to explore you should definitely consider visiting Phong Nha Cave, which is the longest and most beautiful in Vietnam. However, it also tends to flood and often it can be closed in November and December. The main cave is said to be 8km long, making it the longest underground water cave, with 14 other caves that are in close location to it. The Phong Nha Cave is estimated to have formed about 400 million years ago!
Hoi An is a favorite destination for many of the tourists who visit Vietnam due to the charm and history of the town. Hoi An is located along the riverside of the Thu Bon River where it was established 500 years ago. The Old Quarter of the town is shut down from cars in order to keep the feel of the history of Vietnam alive. Although the distance from most places is just a short walk you might want to consider hiring a bike to go where you want to go. One thing really unique about the Old Quarter of Hoi An, and a few other towns in Vietnam, is that on the 15th of every lunar month they give the modern lights a break. This is done in a celebration or preservation of the town’s ancient character. During this night there is nothing used but paper or cloth lanterns that were created by the town.
Though war might be the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Vietnam you might want to consider changing your thoughts and giving the beautiful land of Vietnam a chance!
