Your Packing Checklist for a Caribbean Cruise

So you’ve chosen the destination, found some great excursions and booked your cabin. You have a few days left at work, your excitement is building and all you have to do is pack? In order to ensure your get the maximum enjoyment from your Caribbean cruise holiday, it is a good idea to print out this packing checklist and ensure that you have everything that you will need.

Paperwork

I know it’s boring but this is one thing you can’t forget when you set off on your Caribbean cruise holiday. Hopefully you have already made sure that your passport is still in date and that you have got any visas that you may require, as you won’t be going anywhere if you forget these. Other pieces of paperwork you will need to remember are your travel insurance documents, traveller’s checks, and car insurance or excursion documents if you decided to book these before you travel.

You might also want to photocopy all of your documents and leave them with a trusted friend or neighbour before you leave. The same goes for your credit card numbers – there is nothing worse than losing such vital items on holiday and not being able to do anything about it.

Pre and Post Cruise Arrangements

If you are opting for a Caribbean cruise you will have also needed to purchase flights to and from the cruise’s departure location. Make sure you remember to take all of your flight documents with you and any hotel bookings. It is a good idea to spend a couple of days in your departure city – not only will you feel more relaxed; it is a great way to extend your holiday.

Medications

If you take any medication whatsoever on a regular basis, you really don’t want to forget it when you travel. It is also a good idea to pack some over-the-counter medications such as paracetamol or aspirin, and sea sickness tablets if you think you may need them. Sun tan lotion and after sun are also recommended. You can obtain almost all of the above on-board the ship, but why waste your time (and money); paying inflated prices for items you could have packed before you left home.

Other Essentials

Depending on the time of year you decide to go on your Caribbean cruise you might want to pack a few long sleeved tops and long trousers. Whilst the Caribbean is generally warm and sunny all year round, the evenings do tend to get a bit chilly at certain times of the year. You also want to make sure to pack some form of swimwear (this is useful for both on-board the ship and during some excursions) and a pair of comfortable shoes. A sun hat and a pair of sunglasses are also recommended.
