It took a gondola, ski lift, and hiking to reach the Peak of Vancouver. We were so high that summer turned to winter. I felt foolish and quite chilly wearing only a pair of shorts when there were patches of snow on the ground, but nothing could staunch the excitement I felt as I prepared for launch.
This was my first zip line. I watched as my sister disappeared before me, into a thick fog. The fog was magical. For a moment it felt as though I was flying into nothingness, until I soared out the other end only to be bombarded with images of forest so far below me that I felt as though I were looking out of an airplane rather than gliding along on a thin cable.
Next on the agenda consisted of venturing along a suspension bridge hanging 230 feet above Capilano river. As the bridge swayed with the wind and footfall of others, I took in the view. To my wonder a hawk swooped down plucking a fish out of the water, an image I will never forget as it is something one doesn?t typically see in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Next we went for a hike where we happened upon a glacial lake.
The water was so clear, so pristine, it blew my mind that nature could be so beautiful. It felt as though I had stumbled into a little piece of paradise. My trip to Vancouver was definitely one I will never, ever forget.
